SCG Muangthong United announce the signing of Jackson Avelino Coelho, known as "Jaja". The Brazilian striker was on loan to Buriram United in 2017, where he played a major part in their success last season.
Standing at 1.9 meters, Jaja is expected to take on the striker role for The Kirin. The 31 year old has plenty of experience, having played in Europe as well as the Middle East, before being loaned to Thailand by Belgium's Sporting Lokeren. With Muanghtong United he will wear #50.
"I am very happy to join Muangthong United, I will work very hard for Muangthong and to fight to win," said Jaja. "I came here to play football, and that's what I will do, and be champions. I had many offers, but when I met with the director, he explained how we can work together, and it's not about the money, but to do well, get championships, and succeed in the champions league."
Jaja established himself as a crucial player during his time with the Thunder Castle, scoring 34 goals in 34 games, while contributing 11 assists. The striker also notched up 5 hat-tricks last campaign, and finished as the division's second-highest scorer.
The Kirin's new forward should slot into the starting lineup alongside countryman Heberty, filling the void left by Thai national team striker Teerasil Dangda, who is heading to Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima on loan. The potential partnership between the two Brazilians is an exciting prospect for the season ahead.
Jaja joins the Kirin at a key moment, as SCG Muangthong United will play an important qualifier match for the AFC Champions League on Tuesday January 23rd, against Malaysian Champions Johor Darul Takzim.
