FA CUP 2017: Semi-final Round - SCG Muangthong United vs. Chiang Rai United at the Rajamangala Stadium, 7PM kick off, on Wednesday November 1st, 2017.
SCG Muangthong United will be looking to capture two of the three available trophies this season by advancing to the finals of the FA Cup competition. This will not be an easy task as Chiang Rai United are emerging to be one of the best teams in the country. Currently in 4th place in the Thai League, Chiang Rai contains one of the league's top scoring machines, Brazilian Rafael Coelho. As well the Beetles have several national team players and former Kirin, such as Atit Daosawang, Thitipan Punagchan, and Tanaboon Keserat.
The FA CUP is an annual competition in which all Toyota Thai League and Division I teams are automatically qualified, and teams from Division II, as well as university and college squads, can apply to enter the earlier rounds. It is similar to the League Cup, except a draw determines the order of play rather than divisional playoffs. Also, the winner is placed into the AFC Champions League.
