Wattana Playnum also started in the midfield. As before, the duo of Naoaki Aoyama and Celio Santos anchored the back line and were in charge of containing the high scoring Renan Marques. Charyl Chappuis started in the midfield.
The first 30 minutes saw both teams with good chances, and SCG Muangthong United gaining momentum and looking as if they would have the first goal. Yet the referee awarded a penalty to Chonburi FC at the 30th minute. It was a bitter pill to accept for the Kirin who were starting to dominate the match.
The Kirin exploded into the second half with a multitude of chances within the first 15 minutes and some quality football. Celio Santos came close to redemption with a header just over the bar, and with the intensity Chonburi FC were making errors. Charyl Chappuis showed his skill at keeping possession under pressure and finding the pass opportunity. With the pressure and quality, the equalizing goal came on Teerathon's corner, high and to the far post, with Naoaki Aoyama there to head it home.
Teerathon again pressed for goal, cutting across the box and being upended, which brought the entire Kirin coaching staff out of the team bench, especially after the penalty being awarded in the first half.
Then it was Leandro Assumpcao's time to turn on the goals. Teerathon was to gain a second assist a few moments later with a cross into the six yard box and Leandro Assumpcao who headed it home. The pressure continued, and Leandro added his second of the night. It began with Tristan Do out maneuvering the left back and breaking clear down the right side. Closing in on goal, Tristan slid the pass left to Leandro Assumpcao who had motored his way to the far post, catching up to the pass just in time to tap it in.
Coach Totchtawan subbed in forward Siroch Chatthong signaling a desire to widen the goal margin as best possible, and then a few moments later Peerapat relieved the hard working Leandro Assumpcao. With a last moment gasp by Chonburi FC for a goal blocked by Kawin, the final whistle saw SCG Muangthong United the victors.
