SCG Muangthong United thrilled over 12,000 fans with a brilliant performance, topped off by two goals from Chanathip Songkrasin, as the Kirin win 3-0 at home over Suphanburi F.C.
Coach Totchtawan Sripan elected to rest some key players from the Kirin lineup, knowing there would be difficult away fixture in a few days with a visit to Bangkok United.
Naoaki Aoyama, Tristan Do, Xisco Jiminez, and Teersil all warmed the bench, while Suphan was added to the back line, along with Pitakpong, while Adisorn played a defensive centre midfield role, and Mongkol the central striking position.
The first half ended scoreless, though good chances presented themselves for both clubs.
Chanathip showed he was interested in scoring with a dash into the box, and then spun onto the left footed shot, just wide in what could have been the first goal of the match at the '30th minute
A big save from Kawin was required when Dellatore turned and hit the low shot at the net, but the Kirin keeper was ready for it pounced on the ball. Celio Santos and Dellatore battled frequently, with the
Brazilian defender getting the better of the play.
Soon into the second half Totchtawn Sripan subbed in two of his first string starters, Teerasil Dangda and Tristan Do. With the change, ball possession was dominated by the Kirin, with Suphaburi defending hard and resorting to down field clearances.
No surprise that the first goal was to follow soon after. It came about after Tristan Do lobbed a ball forward towards the net. Teerasil got in between the defenders and knocked the ball on, then ran on to the ball again and chipped it perfectly past the rushing Suphanburi keeper.
Chanathip Songkrasin, with his second goal in as many matches, made it 2-0 for the Kirn with 5 minutes to run. Teerasil and Chanathip worked the ball from the centre of the pitch with a series of little passes, freeing up space for Chanathip to advance into the box on the left. His shot looked to be on target, and it was helped into the box with a deflection off a Suphanburi defender.
The feat was repeated a few moments later, this time Theerathon fed the ball forward and Chanathip chipped the ball towards the goal, and a defensive play to clear helped the ball across the line to make it 3-0.
With the victory the Kirin maintain their hold on the top of the table. The squad will now prepare for their midweek battle, this time away to play Bangkok United.
