Ten players from SCG Muangthong United have been called to the national team training camp, as the squad prepare to represent Thailand soon when the national team competes for qualification into the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The national team is currently competing in the third round of the AFC qualifications for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. There are 12 teams competing, and the top four will qualify for the World Cup, and the fifth place team go into a playoff with a team from the North & Central American and Caribbean conference. Thailand are grouped with Australia, Saudi, Japan, UAE, and Iraq. The War Elephants, as the national team is nicknamed, will play Saudi Arabia at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on March 23rd, and then on March 28th the team travels to face Japan. The ten players to represent Thailand: Kawin Tamsatchanan, Teerasil Dangda, Tristan Do, Teerathon Bunmathan, Wattana Playnum, Mongkol Thasakrai, Adisak Kraisorn, Chanathip Songkrasin, Adisorn Promrak, and Peerapat Nothaiya. The national team will train at the Rajamagala Stadium March 13-15th, and then in seclusion at Hidden Valley in Nakhon Ratchasima from March 16-21st. A total of 29 players have been called to the training sessions, with 23 to be selected by March 22nd.
