SCG Muangthong United legend and former team captain Datsakorn Thonglao has concluded his football career, and the club at this time expresses its immense gratitude.
Datsakorn played seven years with SCG Muangthong United and helped the club to three championships, in 2010, 2012, and 2016.
Born December 20th 1983 in Nong Bua Lamphu, the young Datsakorn moved to Bangkok, living and being educated at a local temple. He played football constantly, sharpening his skills. He caught the attention of a coach at a nearby school, and his playing moved to another level.
At the age of 17 he was picked up Thailand's U17 team, and for the next three years was in regular training and development. He made his international debut in 2001 against North Korea, scoring in the 2-2 draw. By 2002 he was captain of the U23 team.
By this team Bectero had noticed the youngster, but his abilities were also being picked up in Europe, and he was to spend one season in Germany's Divison III. Following this Hoàng Anh Gia Lai, in Vietnam, paid a record 2 million baht, and signed Datsakorn for two years. During this time Datsakorn also helped Thailand to two gold medals at the ASIAN games.
SCG Muangthong United had, meanwhile, been tracking his progress, and in time for 2010 purchased him away from Vietnam for 6 million baht, another record.
Of course, the decision was a fruitful one as Datsakorn Thonglao was instrumental in the clubs performance. He became team caption, and led the Kirin to three championships during his time.
It is with immense pride and respect that SCG Muangthong United say thanks to Datsakorn, and wishes him all the best.
