SCG Muangthong United's U13 team were 2-0 winners this afternoon over Samut Sakhon in the opening match of the new Thailand Youth League.
The quality of both teams was high, though the young Kirin had the better share of the ball and more opportunities on net. The Kirin led 1-0 going into the half after a penalty was awarded. The second goal came in the second half when Man-Of-The-Match Cheerapon finished with a header.
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) have announced the creation of the new nation wide league, known as the Thailand Youth League. There are eight zones that encompass all of Thailand.
The ultimate goal of the league is WORLD CUP FOR THAILAND STARTS HERE. The vision is 10 years from now, or sooner, the Thailand national team will qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
The league has over 300 teams, and is arranged in U13, U15, U17, and U19 divisions. As well as many of the professional clubs in Thailand's top league, Division I, and Division II, there are school teams, academy teams, and other club teams.
