SCG Muangthong United today announce the signing of Yaya Soumahoro! The attacking midfielder returns to the Kirin, having played for the club from 2008 - 2010, scoring 32 goals in 72 appearances.

Soumahoro comes to SCG Muangthong United from Sint-Truidense V.V. in the Belgium Pro League. Previous to that he played five seasons with A.A. Gent, also a Belgium Pro League team. A.A. Gent helped produce current Belgium national stars such as Kevin De Bruyne. Yaya Soumahoro also featured on Ivory Coast’s U23 national team.
With SCG Muangthong United, Soumahoro was pivotal in helping the club with promotion into the Thai Premier League in 2008, and then winning two championships. The move also rekindles the Belgium connection. At the same time that Soumahoro first joined the club, Thai footballer Teeratep Winothai was playing for K. Lierse S.K.and was loaned out to the Kirin. As well, Belgium coach René Desaeyere managed the club during 2010, and again in 2013.

Soumahoro is a versatile player, and could be used either as a forward or perhaps in a winger position. He has a reputation for dazzling footwork and agility that will suit perfectly the style of play of the DREAM TREAM 2016. He will be an exact fit with Chanathip (Messi-J), Cleiton Silva, and the rest of the Muangthong squad.
Soumahoro will begin training with the club and could feature in the match as early as this Saturday when SCG Muangthong United host Nakhon Ratchasima F.C.
