2018 FIFA WORLD CUP - ROUND THREE - Team Thailand Group B

Team Thailand have been drawn into GROUP B for Stage Three of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifications. There are six teams in each of GROUP A and GROUP B. Four teams, the winners and runner-ups, will qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup Russia.

Then, in round four, the third-placed teams will play each other in a home-and-away series. The Round Four winner advances to the intercontinental play-off with the corresponding team from the CONCACAF region (North & Central American and Caribbean).

The winner of the intercontinental match will also qualify for the World Cup.

Thailand will be up for some difficult matches. Group B includes two teams who qualified in 2014 (Japan, Australia), though neither team advanced past the group stage.

Thailand, at 119th, is the lowest ranked team in the group. Australia is ranked 50th in the world, and Japan 57th.

Yet Team Thailand qualified by going undefeated and winning their group is Round Two, and holding Iraq to draws, a team ranked 10 points higher by FIFA. Japan, meanwhile, are at their lowest ranking in history. Australia are expected to dominate the group and obtain their fourth straight qualification, however they did not escape
