SCG Muangthong United returned to their winning form with a confident and controlled 4-0 defeat away to Raj Navy F.C.
The strength of the Muangthong attack was exemplified by Teerasil Dangda who netted 3 goals for the Kirin, and also hit the cross bar on what could have been a fourth. Cleiton Silva added the final goal of the match at the 90th minute in his fourth goal of the season.
Fans will likely be relieved as well at the clean sheet as Raj Navy managed only a few shots on target that were easily handled by Kawin. Coach Totchtawan Sripan used the same back 4 line up, with Naoaki Aoyama and Mario Abrante in centre, and Tristan Do and Peerapat in the wing back positions.
As well, Adisak and Chanathip were given the starting nod, having recovered somewhat from their national team duties that had kept them out of the starting 11 in the previous match.
The win will help SCG Muangthong United keep pace with the other Bangkok teams near the top of the table, and last year’s champ’s Buriram, all of whom also won their last matches. The Kirin however have the best goal difference in the league (+8) which might turn out to be important in the tightly contested race to the title.
SCG Muangthong United will now have a much need break in Toyota Thai League action, a rest sorely needed due to the large number of players called to the national team recently. The Toyota League Cup Round of 64 begins Saturday April 9th, and the next TTL match is when the squad host Sisaket F.C., April 23rd.
