FIGHT THE DROP!! Bectero have all out assault in 2-1 win to fight relegation

SCG Muangthong United lost 2-1 at home to Bectero Sasana, a team fighting TPL relegation and that came into the match with an all out assault.

Head Coach Dragan Talajic elected to start most of his key players, knowing Bectero were facing relegation and needed 3 points. The only change in the line up was Naoaki Aoyama, rested due to a slight knock. Thitiphan meanwhile was moved into an attacking midfielder role, and Kim Dong Jin holding midfielder. The result was a young back line, the oldest being Artit Daosawang at 23, playing in just his 3rd match of the season after returning from his ACL injury.

The first half was to end with a 1-0 lead for Muangthong, with Bectero almost opening the scoring at the 25th minute with an amazing header into the side of the net. Muangthong were able to go ahead just a minute later, however, on a set play. A free kick from far out to the left of goal was hit hard along the ground to Mario Gjurovski who was able to hammer the ball home before the defense could re-organize.

The second half started with Bectero dominating play, and Kawin was forced into several amazing stops, including a tip over the bar at the 57th minute. A series of corner kicks followed, and the pressure resulted in a penalty shot awarded to Bectero, and their second goal, at the 59th minute.

Bectero, determined not to be relegated, continued to pressure the MTUTD back four. A free kick led to the go-ahead goal for Bectero at the 76th minute, headed in by forward Wichan.

Coach Dragan Talajc subbed off Mario Gjurovski, and later Sarach Yuyen, for some valuable rest time. Muangthong United were not able to offer a single shot on net in the 2nd half, and intermittent rain showers added to the challenge the back line faced. Kawin, the Muangthong keeper, also left the game early due to injury.

"Our injuries have hurt us, we put so much energy and effort into beating Army United in the FA Cup...we will do better next match," said coach Dragan Talajic after the match.

SCG Muangthong have two games left in the TPL, and will be in action this Wednesday in Saraburi, and then Sunday December 13th is the final TPL match of the 2015 season, 6PM at the SCG Stadium, vs. Nakhon Ratchasima F.C. Muangthong have secured 2nd place, and are looking to the final match of the Chang FA Cup on December 26th as their chance to win some silverware.
