SCG Muangthong United's winning form came to an end with a 1-1 tie at TOT SC, a game that might well have been a loss had it not been for key saves by Kawin, the MTUTD keeper.
The first half ended 1-0 for MTUTD after Teerasil capitalised on a goal keeper error at the 22nd minute. The ball had been played back to the keeper who failed to clear it before Teerasil was able to steal it from him and tap on into the empty net.
TOT SC had several good chances and Muangthong’s keeper Kawin was forced into several key stops on what looked like certain goals. Muangthong’s back line looked shaky, perhaps missing the presence of Aoyama who was serving a one match ban after accumulating 4 yellow cards.
The second half, though dominated in possession by Muangthong, was when TOT SC added the equaliser. The goal came moments after a great opportunity MTUTD, when Cleiton Silva was in close and passed the ball across the box to have the ball fall on the feet of a TOT defender. A quick counter attack caught the MTUTD defense out of position, leaving player unmarked in front of the goal.
With the draw MTUTD drop to 2nd place in the table as Buriram United defeated Army F.C. 4 - 1. With just 8 games left in the season MTUTD will need to win all remaining matches and hope that Buriram falters at least once.
SCG Muangthong United's next home match will be Wednesday October 28th at 8PM when Chonburi F.C. visit the SCG Stadium.
