SCG Muangthong United 4, Chiang Rai United 1
In the first match back after the international break Muangthong United showed they still have the champion’s form with a solid 4-1 win over 8th place Chiang Rai United.
The win is also significant as Man-of-The-Match Mario Gjurovski scored 3 goals, his 50th and 51st for the club, but also it’s the first match for his new son, born just a few days ago.
“I dedicate these three goals to my son...” said Mario after the match.
The score could easily have been more had it not been for a determined Chiang Rai United defence who showed grit and energy in trying to contain the Muangthong attack.
Muangthong’s other goal came from Naoaki Aoyama who opened the scoring with a header off a free kick from captain Datsaskorn Thonglao at only the second minute of the match.
With the win SCG Muangthong United are now exactly even with Buriram United who won 5-0 over TOT SC. Both clubs now have 59 points and a goal difference of 41.
SCG Muangthong United’s next match is against the same TOT SC, Saturday Oct. 24th, 7 PM, at the TOT SC stadium just a few kilometers away from the SCG Stadium.
