During this time the Thai Premier League will take a break, with the next match for Muangthong on Sept. 13th, away against Bangkok United.
This will be the 3rd match in the World Cup qualification process, which also determines the teams of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup competition. The match will be played at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.
The War Elephants last played on June 16th when they defeated Chinese Taipei 2-0 in a match at Taipei. Both goals in the match came from SCG Muangthong striker Teerasil Dangda. Thailand won their first match 1-0 over Vietnam on May 24th.
Up to 5 teams may qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia from the AFC (Asian Football Confederation). Thailand are in Group F along with Iraq, Taipei, Vietnam and Indonesia, who have been disqualified from entering with the collapse of their national league system and governmental interference. Teams will play home-away matches against each other to determine whom advances to the third round.
After the match with Iraq, The War Elephants will play again on Oct. 13th vs. Vietnam in the second leg.
