SCG Muangthong United travel to Buriram United for a match at the iMobile Stadium (the Thunder Castle) Saturday August 1st, 2015.
The match is pivotal for both clubs who are currently tied for top spot in the Thai Premier League. The last time the two clubs met, in the first leg of the season, the teams played out a 1-1 draw at the SCG Stadium, with Mario Gjurivski scoring the goal for MTUTD.
Both teams are in good form, and coming off mid-week victories in the Chang FA Cup. Over their last 5 matches MTUTD have 4 wins and 1 draw, while Buriram have 3 wins and 2 draws. Both teams have recently drawn with Bectero Sasana.
MTUTD have a few injury worries for the match, however Kim Dong Jin is expected back, as is Datsakorn Thonglo, both having left recent matches. Cleiton Silva, however, is in top form having scored his second hattrick of the season in the 3-1 win over Raja Navy FC on Wednesday.
The key for MTUTD is to contain Brazilian forward Diogo, who is the TPL's leding scorer with 15 goals so far this season. Home field advantage is also a concern for MTUTD, who have never won at the Thunder Castle, but have earned points there before.
"We will need to play better than we have played so far," said Coach Dragan Talajic when asked about MTUTD's chances on Saturday. "We know how to win, we will come back with 3 points."
