SCG Muangthong United earned a confident 3-0 win over TOT SC at the SCG Stadium, With the win, Muangthong remain in 2nd spot but move within 1 point of league leaders Buriram United.
Coach Dragan Talajic, who had to watch the match from the stands along with the 6,503 fans present (due to a TPL ruling against him) decided to rest Mario Gjurovski and defender Naoaki Aoyama. Talajic instead made sure the 8 players that were part of the Thai National Team played, despite having been apart the last 40 days. The stats make it clear that this was a match dominated by MTUTD, with 57% possession and 14 shots, forcing the TOT keeper into 5 saves. Muangthong were often on the attack, with outer backs Piyaphon and Kim Dong Jin pushing forward to join the offense.
By the 40th minute the pressure gave Dong Jin was fouled in the box, and Cleiton Silva had his first goal on the penalty shot. SCG Muangthong United will play again Wednesday June 24th in Khon Kaen in a Chang FA Cup match. The next Thai Premier League match is Sunday June 28th at Chonburi, and the next home game will be the following Sunday, July 5th, vs. Army United.
