Muangthong United will host Bangkok United at the SCG Stadium in the final match of the 2014 season of the Thai Premier League, Sunday Nov. 2nd, 6 pm kick off.
The excitement of the final match of the season has been marred by the Thai Premier League's controversial decision to limit the number of fans allowed at home matches, and to ban the wearing of team jerseys, and most of all to deduct 9 points from Muangthong United. The harsh measures follow from post-match hooliganism with Singhtarua fans last month. Despite what many see as an unfair and unprecedented level of punishment, Muangthong have had an excellent run of form, undefeated in their last 7 matches, and having won 6. This is remarkable for the squad as several key players are still injured: Aritz Borda, Mario Gjurovski, and more recently Kim Dong Jin. This run has placed United in 3rd place in the table (before the 9 point deduction). Bangkok United have also had a good season, recently earning a 3-0 win over Air Force Central. Bangkok United are now 8th place in the table, however their away form is not strong with 3 straight losses. Bangkok United's top goal scorer is Frenchman Romain Gasmi, a former Southampton player of the English Premier League. Gasmi has 11 goals on the season, but a goal in each of the team's last 3 matches. There are limited tickets available for this final match of the season, through the SCG Stadium Ticket Office, from 12 noon on match day. Call 081-358-0833 for information.
