Three Muangthong United players will form the core fighting force of the Thai National U-23 Team at the INCHEON ASIAN GAMES 2014, September 19th -October 4th.
Muangthong United are sending keeper Kawin Thamsatchanan, midfielder SarachYuyen, and defender Suriya Singmuy, plus on-loan player Sarawut Kanlayanabundit, to the U23 squad. Sarach and Suriya are also products of the Muangthong United Academy system, and their call-up to the national squad speaks to the quality of this program.
Already the Muangthong players have established themselves as the core fighting Force of the War Elephant’s squad. Sarach Yuyen (Tung) for instance scored a dramatic free kick as the U-23 sqaud defeated Phuket F.C. in an friendly last weekend. “I am proud to have scored for the club, and it helps us to establish a positive mood.”
According to head coach Kasem Jariyawatwong the current team is “the best squad yet” and he expects they will capture the gold medal for Thailand. The team have a relatively easy group stage with Maldives (Sept. 15), Timor Leste (Sept. 18) and Indonesia (Sept. 22).
