MUANGTHONG UNITED vs. BECTERO SASANA

MATCH REPORT

Muangthong United - 0

Bectero Sasana - 1

Attendance: 10,089

United were to concede 3 points to Bectero, and with Buriram's 5-0 rout of Chaing Rai, now sit in a 3-way tie for first place.

The first half saw both teams trade chances at net. United had the better possesion of ball, though Bec managed more strikes, but none of them on target. Milan Bubalo had to be subbed in at the 27th minute as Jay Bothroyd went down heavily and limped back to the bench.

The second half saw Bectero start strong, but the United back line held up. United began to apply the pressure and had an early chance at the 50th minute when a strike by Wuttuchai came back off the cross bar. A few minutes later a header by Wuttichai was just wide.

The half continued with both teams pressing. Piyaphon saved a for sure goal as Witsanusak, who played well as the substitue keeper, came out of the net to have the ball passed behind him. A few seconds later Milan Bubalo found the Bectero keeper likewise out of his net, but his shot was wide.

The pressure applied by both teams led to Bectero's goal as a clearance landed on the foot of Jaturong who had the time to place the ball in the bottom right corner.

United continued to press into the final ten minutes and held the ball in the Bectero half. Yet the goal was not to come this time, and Bectero were clearly relieved at the final whistle.

United, who are lready missing key players due to injuries, are now worried about Jay Bothroyd's fitness, but more so that of Siwakorn who had to be stretchered off and awaits a diagnosis from Bangkok Hospital.
