Official Announcement - Muangthong United have signed Dragan Talajic as their new head coach, beginning with tonight's game with Buriram in the Toyota League Cup quarter finals.
Talajic joins United on a 3 year contract, having managed for the last 10 years with teams in the Middle East. It's no coincidence that Talajic had been at the SCG Stadium before. Three years ago he brought his Kuwaiti team for an AFC playoff game, which was a 0-0 tie.
Referring to that time, Talajic says, "I was surprised with the lovely atmosphere of the stadium, and the professionalism of the organization, and impressed with Mr. Ronnarit. Slowly the idea began to grow in my mind that I would like to be a part of this team." He further added that his is proud to have been selected by Muangthong, and, "I am very happy to be coming here, to Thailand, to this beautiful country."
When asked about the pressure of working with a top club such as Muangthong United, Talajic says, "I am a long-time coach, with many successes, I know how to handle the pressure."
Talajic said he respects the coaches and trainers who have brought United to where they are now, at the top of the table half way through the season. He said his approach is to. "...not change too much, but slowly try new things, and mainly to continue in the same way as has been established so far this season. The goal is to win the championship."
