Suncorp Stadium (52,000)

Brisbane Roar finished in 3rd place in the A-League last season and entered the preliminary rounds of the AFC Champions League. The team advanced to the playoff round with a  6-0 win over Global F.C. (Philippines). Then, the Roar surprised Shanghai Shenhua winning the away game 2-0, and were placed in Group E along with SCG Muangthong United, Kashima Antlers (Japan), and Ulsan Hyundai (Korea).

Brisbane's head coach former Socceroo and La Liga player John Aloisi perhaps will start the same squad that did so well in Shanghai during the playoff round.

KEEPER - Jamie Young

DEFENDERS: Jack Hingert, Luke DeVere, Jade North,Cory Brown

MIDFIELD: Thomas Kristensen, Tommy Oar, Matt McKay, Thomas Broich

FORWARDS: Jamie Maclaren, Brandon Borrello

Jamie Maclaren

Forward #9

Height:    178 cm

Weight:    70 kg

Date of birth:    Jul 29, 1993 (23)

Muangthong United are familiar with Jamie Maclaren as he was in the starting line up when Australia played Thailand in FIFA World Cup qualifiers this past November, a match that ended in  2-2 draw. Maclaren joined the Roar last season and scored 20 goals, and also played with the Socceroos against England last May. Maclaren spent much of his early career with the Blackburn Rovers youth system. Look for his quickness in getting behind defenders for a strong finish.

Brandon Borrello

Forward #28

Height:    178 cm

Weight:    79 kg

Date of birth:    Jul 25, 1995 (21)

Brandon Borrello is on fire, having scored 5 goals in AFC Champions League games, as well as contributing recently in the A-League. At only 21, Borrello looks to be a future Socceroo, and has already represented Australia on the U20 and U21 teams. Borrello is a powerful attacker able to execute perfect first-time finishes.

Matt McKay, team captain, has been with the Roar for 8 seasons. He brings valuable international experience to the team. In his career he has represented Australia with 59 appearances, including the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
